Theft victims, insurers, and law enforcement may enter data online using internal investigation and claims management systems or industrywide databases such as ISO ClaimSearch. Theft victims may also call CargoNet’s 24-hour call center. CargoNet takes theft information and quickly passes it to statewide law enforcement systems that transmit the theft alert to investigators and patrol cars. CargoNet can also transmit the theft alert to thousands of drivers, gas stations, and rest stops at the theft victim’s request. CargoNet's secondary-market monitoring system can upload and analyze large amounts of sales data for CargoNet’s analysts to screen. From this data, CargoNet develops leads.
Recovery BenefitsThe database and workflow are designed by police officers and supply-chain experts to ensure that law enforcement and NICB are capable to efficiently and quickly find the information related to an investigation and establish links or see crime patterns that might otherwise be invisible. Law enforcement and NICB can more easily link recovered goods to the true owner. The aggregation of data and database functions will significantly increase recoveries and arrests.
